One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son，“How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“oh, yeah,” said the son.

“So, tell me what you’ve learnt from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answer, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden ad they have a creek that has no end. We have imported laterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have a servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us；they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

我们是多么的贫穷

有一天，一个富有的老爸带着他的儿子去乡村旅行，为了让他见识其他人的生活是多么贫困。他们在农场上一家非常贫穷的人家住了几天。

在他们回家的途中，父亲问儿子，“你觉得旅行怎么样？”

“非常棒，爸爸。”

“你有看见人们生活得多么贫困吗？”父亲问道。

“噢，是的。”儿子回答。

“那么，告诉我你从这次旅途中有何收获？”父亲问道。

儿子回答道，“我看到我们养了一条狗而他们养了四条。我们有一个水塘直达我们的花园，而他们有一条小溪看不到尽头。我们在花园安置灯笼，而他们夜晚却有繁星照耀。我们的天井直达前院，而他们却有整个地平线。我们有一小块土地居住，而他们有却有广阔无垠的田野。我们有仆人服侍我们，而他们却为他人服务。我们买自己的食物，但是他们种给别人。我们有围墙来保护我们的财产，他们有朋友来保护他们。”

男孩的父亲无言以对。

儿子又说道：“谢谢爸爸，你让我见识到我们有多么贫困。”

看法难道不是一种神奇的东西？如果我们感激自己所拥有的一切，而不是担心我们还未得到的，你的愿望就能实现。
