Things to Do to Encourage and Promote a Positive Attitude

1) Always keep eye contact with people you are talking to. Looking into someone's eye's promotes honesty. Plus when you smile, they will notice, and this will encourage everyone to have a positive attitude.

Always use a professional handshake when you meet your old friend or someone new. (THE PROFESSIONAL HANDSHAKE: you shake the interviewer's hand firmly as you look him/her in the eye, while stating your name proudly. Even women should have a firm, but not TOO firm of a handshake. This shows that you are serious and professional about your occupation. Take the interviewer's hand when it is extended to you. Leave your arm in an L (90-degree angle). Shake twice, firmly, then let the hand drop away.

The PROFESSIONAL handshake will create a business atmosphere of trust and equality. Your confidence will show that you are able and willing to do any job. This is the best way to make a good first impression and to show you have a positive attitude.

2) Always look on the bright side. Always point out the positive or good aspects of everything and everyone. Every person has good traits, find them!

Dialogue(对话): A Positive Attitude Everyday

Gordon: Hi buddy, how's life?

Molly: Things couldn't be better. I'm having a great day.

Gordon: Cool, tell me about it.

Molly: I have been keeping a positive attitude and it has helped me a lot.

Gordon: Please explain.

Molly: Well, I gave my boss a professional handshake and a big smile. Then after she complimented me, I told her I deserved a raise.

Gordon: So you got a raise, great.

Molly: Well, not exactly. She turned down my request for a raise.

Gordon: So why do you still have a positive attitude? That would make me mad. Aren't you mad?

Molly: Of course not. I am happy to see I have the courage to ask for a raise. Now the boss and the other employees respect me more. Plus, I am sure if I keep working hard and keep a positive attitude, I will get that raise soon enough.

Gordon: Soon enough to get some extra money to buy me dinner tonight?

Molly: Sorry to say, no. However, I am sure if I smile at you and share my positive attitude, you will treat me to dinner, right?

Gordon: Anything for you.
