Half the semester is already finished.<br/>注解：半个学期的时间过去了。<br/>在本句中，朋友们很容易把“half the semester”错写为“the half semester”。请注意，half the semester是half of the semester的简单式，其冠词the一定要放在semester的前面。<br/><br/> 2. Most of the classmates in our school love music.<br/>注解：我们学校的大多数同学都狂爱音乐。<br/>在本句里，有些朋友容易把“most of the classmates”错写为“the most of the classmates”，而错误的关键在于介词的错误摆放不符合英语的习惯用法。<br/><br/> 3. What a nice day it is!<br/>注解：多美好的一天啊。<br/>在本句里，朋友们容易按照汉语的习惯翻译，把“what a nice day”写为“a what nice day”。请注意，不定冠词a与an一般放在修饰名词的形容词之前，但应该放在修饰名词的形容词what与such之后。比如，I have never read such a novel.（我从来没有读过这样的小说。）。<br/><br/> 4. The Yangtse River is the longest river in China.<br/>注解：长江是中国最长的河流。<br/>在句子中，请特别注意，一般表示山川河流的名称之前应该有定冠词the，从而表示唯一性。比如，黄河是the Yellow River，喜玛拉雅山脉是the Himalayas，太平洋是the Pacific Ocean。<br/><br/> 6. Do me a favor by passing the milk.<br/>Do me the favor to pass the milk.<br/>注解：劳驾，请递给我那份牛奶。<br/>“Do somebody a favor.”是“给某个人帮个忙”的意思。如果指明具体帮什么忙，则应该在favor前用定冠词the，在favor后加to（do）（具体帮忙的内容）。但是如果用do sb. a favor + by + 动名词形式，则不需要把不定冠词a改为定冠词the。比如，Do me the favor to take a cake out of the box.. 请帮我从盒子里拿块蛋糕出来。<br/><br/> 7. We always have a walk after dinner.<br/>注解：我们总是晚饭后散步。<br/>请注意，have / take a walk是固定搭配，而a是的加入只是为了说明“散步”这件事情本身，并不是说walk这个动词可数。同样，请注意，在三餐名词前（包括dinner在内）一般是不允许加冠词的，而比如像have her dinner这样加入形容词性物主代词的搭配则是可以的。<br/><br/> 8. I made an effort to improve myself in singing.<br/>注解：我努力提高自己的歌唱水平。<br/>make an effort 与make efforts都是“努力”的意思，当effort用作单数时，其前面的不定冠词a不能遗漏，而将effort用做复数时，其前没有冠词。<br/><br/> 9. Iran is located in the Middle East.<br/>注解：伊朗位于中东地区。<br/>在句子中，表示广泛且笼统地区的名称前，一般要用定冠词the。比如，远东地区the Far East ；南极地区 the Antarctic ；地中海 the Mediterranean ；大西洋 the Atlantic Ocean ；印度洋 the Indian Ocean 等。<br/><br/> 10. A writer and a pianist had been invited to the party.<br/>注解：一个作家和一个钢琴家被邀请参加这个聚会。<br/>如果朋友们把“A writer and a pianist”写成“A writer and pianist”则变成指同一个人了，那这样的话就要翻译为“一个作家兼钢琴家”。表示不同的人，各个名词的前面都应该加冠词从而可以明确指代。另外，如果修饰名词的形容词是两个以上的时候，也要分别加冠词。比如，A blue and a grey kimono are being sold in that department store. 一件兰色的和一件灰色的日本和服正在那间百货商店销售。</span></td></tr></tbody></table></p> |
