Chinanews, Shanghai, Dec. 4 – More and more middle class Chinese have become main consumers of wine. According to a latest survey, the increasing demand for wine in China has made more brands of wine appear in the market. It is estimated that the consumption of wine in China will be increased by 65.52% between 2001 and 2010. The wine market in Shanghai has grown to be a mature one, and foreign brands from 40 countries and regions worldwide have gradually occupied the local market after China entered the WTO. Statistics show that currently in Shanghai there are more than 200 domestic wine brands and 160 foreign brands in the market. More and more wine merchants intend to invest in Shanghai’s wine market. Experts said as Shanghai citizens have more opportunities to learn from the West, and it is easier for them to adopt wine.
