If someone stands you up, they eat words and fail to show up for a meeting or a date you’ve already agreed. Stand someone up，不是指让某人面壁站立，而是说放了他人的鸽子，没有如约出现在某个场合。

Examples:

He stood her up once too often(又一次，再一次), so she broke up with him. 他一而再，再而三地放她鸽子，所以她和他分了手。

I’m afraid he will probably stand me up tonight. I have been waiting almost half an hour. 我恐怕他今晚会失约。我已经等了快半小时了。
