Arizona can boast eight industry clusters that are fully in gear, helping to create a diverse economy
and making substantial contributions to the state’s bottom line and overall competitivity
Two of the original clustersinformation industries and aerospace industrieshave combined into one high-technology cluster. It includes various subsectors within the manufacturing industries of machinery and computer equipment, electronic and other electronic equipment, transportation equipment, and instruments.
Of the eight clusters defined in Arizona as part of the ASPED process, the minerals and mining industries cluster consists of very few establishments in Maricopa County, thus was not included in this analysis. The agriculture and food processing industries cluster had to be excluded because
farms are not included in the Census Bureau’s data. |
