So far I found the most difficult part for listening comprehension is dialogues on TV/movies and songs. The former, at least I know that they are talking in English (the syllable are very clear, although some are not meaningful to me). But for the latter, the syllables are usually vague and undistinguishable for me.

Does anybody have any idea on how to train my ears to catch the words/syllables in English songs?

Thanks for your help.

There're kinds of music. Usually i think it's harder for us to catch the lyrics from Rap,hiphop...as it might include many slangs and it's really fast.

In a word. To catch the lyrics, It's not only about your sense of language but aslo the sense of music.

Yes, i remembered one of my english teachers ever said to me "if you can catch the lyrics from english songs, it'll not difficult at all for you to follow english speakers".

So i just started listening english songs then when i was still in my middle school, now it's been more than 10 years. There was a TV program at that time called "Learning English by MTV", i awaited it every evening around 6PM, and i even fight with my bro just coz he wanted the channel of Sports News.

thanks for sharing. en, sometimes the words are "unreasonably " divided into several parts, and some of syllables are stretchedmuch longer than normal speech to follow the pace of the music.

i think i am lack of both the lyric vocabulary and the sense of melody, which prevent me to catch the lyrics.

Just enjoy the melody. Coz some lyrics are "unreasonable" indeed.
