亚太旅游协会成立60周年庆典暨年会11日在北京举行。国务院副总理王岐山在会上指出，在今后五年中，中国政府将把旅游业培育成国民经济的战略性支柱产业。

Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Qishan said on Monday that the country would strive to develop tourism into a strategic pillar industry of the nation's economy over the 12th Five-Year Plan period from 2011 until 2015.

国务院副总理王岐山周一说，在“十二五”期间（2011年—2015年）国家将努力将旅游业培育成国民经济的战略性支柱产业。

在上面的报道中，strategic pillar industry就是“战略性支柱产业”，战略产业指一国为实现产业结构的高级化目标所选定的对于国民经济发展具有重要意义的具体产业部门，一般分为leading industry（主导产业）、pillar industry（支柱产业），以及basic industry（基础产业）等。这里的pillar有“支柱，栋梁”的意思，例如：He had been the pillar of the club all his life. （他一生都是这个俱乐部的台柱。）

王岐山指出，中国旅游具有得天独厚的tourism resources（旅游资源）。发展旅游业要坚持people-oriented（以人为本）理念，give full play to the fundamental role of the market in resource allocation（充分发挥市场配置资源的基础性作用），strive to establish a unified, open, competitive and orderly tourism market（建立统一、开放、竞争、有序的旅游市场）。
