Summary Writing:
On June 18th, 1872, there was an exciting race set out from Shanghai to England between the Cutty Sark and the Thermopylae. After crossing the Equator, the Cutty Sark took her lead to her opponent. But she had a lot of troubles during the sailing time. A heavy storm made her lost the rudder. The sailors of the ship made a temporary one with great difficulty by spare planks on board. But it was so weak that if the ship ran too quickly, this rudder would be torn away as well. Based on that, the Thermopylae began to take her lead and kept on it reaching England. It was after one week that the Cutty Sark had reached the point finally. |
