Many knew his voice, if not his image. For Fred Foy, who died Dec. 22 at 89, delivered the memorable

introduction to The Lone Ranger. For years it was he who famously said, "A fiery horse with the speed of

light, a cloud of dust and a hearty 'Hi-Yo, Silver!' ... the Lone Ranger!" Foy became the show's announcer

and narrator in 1948, first for the radio program and later for the television series as well. He also worked

on The Green Hornet and The Dick Cavett Show and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.
