连系动词be的详细用法

1) be +现在分词,构成进行时态,例如:

They are having a meeting. 他们正在开会。

English is becoming more and more important. 英语现在越来越重要。

2) be + 过去分词,构成被动语态,例如:

The window was broken by Tom.. 窗户是汤姆打碎的。

English is taught throughout the world. 世界各地都教英语。

3) be + 动词不定式,可表示下列内容:

a. 表示最近、未来的计划或安排,例如:

He is to go to New York next week.. 他下周要去纽约。

We are to teach the freshpersons. 我们要教新生。

说明: 这种用法也可以说成是一种将来时态表达法。

b. 表示命令,例如:

You are to explain this. 对此你要做出解释。

He is to come to the office this afternoon. 要他今天下午来办公室。

c. 征求意见,例如:

How am I to answer him? 我该怎样答复他?

Who is to go there? 谁该去那儿呢?

d. 表示相约、商定,例如:

We are to meet at the school gate at seven tomorrow morning. 我们明天早晨7点在校门口集合。

I. 概念

   Hi,大家好!我是连系动词be,你在刚开始学英语句子时,恐怕你首先遇到动词王国中的成员就是我be。不少同学对我说法不一,这叫我如何“是”好?我连系动词be的基本意思是“是”,其实,不少场合我连系动词be也充当“不是”。真可谓“是也不是”。让你先一睹我的“容貌”吧。

   (1)询问年龄及回答时be不译出。

   —How old are you? 你多大了?

   —I'm eleven.我十一岁。

   (2)询问姓名与回答时be不译成“是”。

—What's your name? 你叫什么名字?

—My name is Amy. 我叫Amy。

(3)在一些表示问候的用语及答语中be不译出。

—How are you? 你好吗?

—I'm fine. Thank you. 我很好。谢谢。

II. 用法

我连系动词be是am, is, are三者的原形,我一般不直接出现在句子中,而是以am, is, are的形式出现。它们各有分工,而且随着主语的人称和数的变化而变化。am最专一,始终跟着I转;are 跟you, we及表复数名词或复数意义的词连用;is的交际最广泛,is与“他、她、它”形影不离,至于名词单数,指示代词(this/that)都与is结下不解之缘。

刚开始学习英语的同学,往往对我连系动词be与主语人称保持一致的问题把握不好。为此,建议你在歌谣中熟悉我连系动词的“身影”:

我用am,你用are;

is用在他、她、它;

遇到复数全用are。

Step 1 review

be动词可以充当连系动词和助动词。

1. 充当连系动词,连接表语。

Eg: He is a docter.

We are in Class Four, Grade One .

He looks like his mother.

Oh, you look so beautiful !

2. 充当时态和语态的助动词。

Eg: Listen, the song is being sung by the singer .

① 现在进行时态的助动词,

Eg: We are singing and dancing happily .

I am reading now .

He is listening to the music now .

② 过去进行时态的助动词,

Eg: The students were doing their exercises when the teacher came into the classroom.

I was watching TV at eight last night .

③ 被动语态的助动词,

Eg: The car is made in America .

The house was built in 2000 .

Step 2 presentation

be动词充当连系动词、时态、语态的助动词,在肯、否定句、一般疑问句及简短回答和特殊疑问句中的变化规则完全一样:

Eg: ①We are in Class Four, Grade One .

We aren’t in Class Four, Grade One .

Are you in Class Four, Grade One ?

Yes, we are . / No,we aren’t .

What class and what grade are you in ?

②I am reading now .

I’m not reading now .

Are you reading now ?

Yes, I am . / No, I’m not .

Yes, we were . / No,we weren’t .

⑤The house was built in 2000 .

The house wasn’t built in 2000 .

Yes, it was . / No, it wasn’t .

S: The song isn’t being sung by the singer

Cue: 一般问句

S: Is the song being sung by the singer ?

Cue: answer

S: Yes, it is .

Cue:主动态

S: The singer is singing the song .

5. T: The house was built in 2000 .

Cue: 否定句

S: The house wasn’t built in 2000 .

Cue: 一般问句

S: Was the house built in 2000 ?

Cue:answer

be动词的人称、数和时态三方面变化,以及现在分词形式:
