美国有线电视新闻网称，拜登将2024年大选定义为“在前进和后退、希望和仇恨之间”的选择，并将他的决定视为民主问题。

US President Joe Biden addressed his decision to step aside from his campaign Wednesday, framing the 2024 election as a choice "between moving forward and backward, between hope and hate" and casting his decision as a matter of democracy.

拜登表示，美国正处于“转折点”，“这是历史上罕见的时刻之一，我们现在做出的决定，将决定国家的命运。我们必须在前进还是后退、希望还是仇恨、团结还是分裂之间做出选择。”

"America's going to have to choose between moving forward or backward, between hope and hate, between unity and division. We have to decide: Do we still believe in honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy?" He said.

拜登还称，“在接下来的六个月里，我将集中精力履行总统的职责。”

"The next six months will be focused on doing my job as president," Biden said.

此外，他还列举了其任期内的一些外交和国内政治举措，并再次表态支持哈里斯竞选美国总统。

He also championed his vice-president, Kamala Harris, who's now taking his place on the ticket.

拜登21日宣布，他不再寻求竞选连任总统，并全力支持副总统哈里斯作为民主党总统候选人参加2024年大选。
