原创]看电影学英语 -翻译风波瑟薇亚是联合国的口译员，一次无意听到有人密谋暗杀一位非洲总统。报警之后，前来调查的特工对她的话抱怀疑态度。持着先入为主的态度和瑟薇亚谈话。瑟薇亚对这位特工也不怀好感。所以对话一直充满火药味。看过很多情况西方人在争吵时都极力保持着极有礼的态度。平和的语气。电影里瑟薇亚的声音非常好听。

瑟薇亚和保护她的特工见面

特工递名片，

瑟薇亚念：Secret service Dignitary protection squad.

--------[secret service：特勤局 it's branch of US government.电影里经常出现这个部门。还有FBI（Federal Bureau of Investigation）（美国联邦调查局）,看24的就天天听CTU（Counter Terrorist Unit）（反恐组）dignitary高贵的人, 职位高的人, 显要人物

瑟薇亚：i don't recall seeing you around.

-they hire us for our forgettable faces.

瑟薇亚回头看另一位随意站远处的特工，问：is she on guard?

-yes,ma'am

瑟薇亚：Ma'ma....why is it you guys who carry guns always sound like cowboy?。。i don't concentrate on faces in my job.

（cowboy 牛仔好象比较多时候是贬义的~外国人对美国说话时经常用~~美国人自己也用~有时见用小孩昵称什么的~~。 concentrate on 集中在；专心于）

-but you listen to voice...do you think you could identity the voice?（说话时一直盯着瑟薇亚的脸，大概是给以压力）

瑟薇亚：well,i'd say yes,if it were...is was almost a whisper.whispers disguise the quality of a voice...(对特工的直视感到不舒服。）you, i imagine,study faces....（特工仍旧直盯着她的脸，无奈，换了个姿势。）you konw,i'm not really a dignitary.

-i konw...how'd you happen to be up there after hours?

瑟薇亚：we had an evacuation.i'd left some things in the sound booth.

-and there just happened to be some fellas talking about an assassination in a language that you and eight other people understand,in a room full of microphones.

（eight other people 少数人？。。。不知道）

瑟薇亚：do you think i'm makeing it up?..why would i report a threat i didn't hear?

瑟薇亚：i don't.

-some people like attention.

瑟薇亚：i don't.

瑟薇亚：i didn't make it up.

-how do you feel about him?

瑟薇亚：i don't care for him.

-wouldn't mind if he were dead?

瑟薇亚：i wouldm't mind if he were gone.

-same thing.（瑟薇亚的gone的意思大概是那个总统离开了联合国后再被人杀掉她就不在乎。特工把GONE理解成死了。所以说俩个句子是同样的）

瑟薇亚：no,it isn't.ifi interpreted "gone" as "dead",i'd be fired.if they were the the same,there'd be on UN.（United Nations）

-you profession is playing with words.

瑟薇亚：i don't play with words.

you're doing it now.

瑟薇亚：you are. if i wanted him dead,i wouldn't have reported it.it's not what i want.that's not why i'm here.

瑟薇亚：here.working at the UN,instead of standing on a road somewhere with a machine-gun.

瑟薇亚：i believe in this place.i believe in what it tries to accomplish.

瑟薇亚：listen.i'm scared, and my protector is someone who doesn't believe me.

scare 电影里年轻人比较多用~you scared the shit out of me~还有比较多见的this place/this guy is freaking me out.

瑟薇亚：people handle fear in different ways,Mr Keller.it turns some people into stand-up comedians.you don't know me at all....maybe i should see about assigning someone to look after me who's better suited to the job.

-my job is not look afer you.is look after the man who's been threayened,if there was a threat.my job,as it concerns you,is to investigate you.

瑟薇亚：so you're not here to affer me any protecion whatsoever?

NO,Ma'am.

瑟薇亚把名片还回去。

瑟薇亚：and we were getting alon so well.
