Iran launches women-only taxis
The "Ladies' Safe Trips" taxi service was launched "at the request of Tehran women asking for a safe and relaxed service," according to the municipality transport official Jafar Tashakori Hashemi.
Female passengers can call the company from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm for a green-colored Kia cab driven by "professional and experienced women" and equipped with GPS navigation systems.
"We hope the ladies employed at the taxi company display their capabilities in social activities by respecting Islamic values," he said.
Passengers in the Islamic republic travel in segregated buses, with women sitting in the back, but they often have to share taxis with three men squeezed together on the back seat.
Women can choose between female-only and mixed wagons on subway trains.

据伊朗首都德黑兰市政交通处官员加法·塔沙科里·哈什米介绍，应广大德黑兰女性的要求，市政交通处日前成立了一家名为“女士安全行”的出租车服务公司，专为女性提供“安全而轻松”的服务。
此种绿色的起亚出租车内置GPS导航系统，司机都是“有专业驾驶经验”的女性，女乘客从早上6点至晚上10点期间可以随时打电话叫车。
哈什米说：“我们希望公司雇佣的女司机展示出她们的社会活动能力，尊重伊斯兰教规。”
伊朗的公交车上男女座位是分开的，女乘客一般坐在车的后半部。但是女性在乘坐出租车时，却常常不得不和三个男人挤在后座上。
女性坐地铁时则有两种选择，可以坐在女性专用车厢，也可以坐在普通车厢。
