Dear Q, I do like your recommendation and do agree with you that the cultures are different among different countries. That is true. I also think those differences are relatively minor for most Chinese. Western cultures have a lot in common, e.g. individualism, self-realization... I have to say, at the same time, that at later stages you do need to distinguish those different western cultures. They are so different. Slowpoke |

Learning the English cultural is so important. If you know little about the cultural behind English, no matter how perfect your spoken English is, you are just a beginner. Frank and I are good friends, but he always said I pissed him off, and several times I made him terriblely angry, he was yelling" get out of my house" Well, I really felt ashame of my self. I need to learn more about the culture. when learning English, we can't see the importance of learning the culture, but when you are facing foreigners, talking with them, or working with them, you will find that knowing the cultural is very very very important. I am learning the cultures from Frank, he is a great guy who always ready to help others. I benefit a lot from him. | I have tried many times to invite Frank to come to our English forum, but every time he said our forum is a Chinese forum, not an English forum.Sometimes he is just like a little kid, he thought our forum should be a completely English forum which is without any Chinese. As we all know, Frank can't read Chinese, so......I really don't know what to do.How can I persuade him to join us? Do you have any good ideas, my dear friends? |
