Has television destroyed communication among family members?

Many people have a love-hate relationship with television. It is undeniable an important source of news, information and entertainment, and many of us watch it far more than we admit to. Yet, it often comes in for a great deal of criticism.

许多人对电视既爱又恨。电视毫无疑问是新闻，信息和娱乐的来源之一。许多人比自己想象中看电视时间要长得多。但是，电视也遭到了很多的批评。

Some of this criticism focuses on communication, or rather the lack of it. It is alleged by many that television has destroyed communication among family members.

其中一些批评是针对电视破坏了人与人之间的交流，尤其是破坏了家人之间的交流。

Many people prefer to eat their meals in front of the television set and watching the program on it, even while other members of the family are present. The attraction of the television set is greater than the prospect of talking to their family. The result is a decrease in family communication.

许多人喜欢在电视机前吃饭，即使家人们都在。电视机比与家人们聊天的诱惑力更大。结果就是家人间的交流越来越少。

So should television bear the responsibility for the breakdown in family communication?

Of course that television is the cause of some breakdowns in family communication, but television isn't the "sole" bearer of this problem.Family communication is a complex issue.One could write a complete thesis on this subject.

Television is one of the causes that reduce comunication between family members. What people almost everywhere like to do after work is watching TV at home. This shows that television should be a main bearer of this problem, though not the only one.

Apart from watching TV,people have other choices to spend their spare time:doing sports,having a trip,etc. If we are in a habit of sharing these activities with your family members,will they be able to destroy cominication among us? So the key to this problem is not what activities we are doing. It lies in whether you keep your family in heart.

Love your family,share the pleasure of life with them. Nothing will become a breakdown in family comunication.

To my way of thinking,it's the person,not the television,that should be responsible for the breakdown in family communication.It is decided by person to watch TV or to chat with his family.Television is innocent and passive while person is active.So don't ascribe all to television and find faults from ourselves.

why does my reply need to be checked?

Watching TV is a most common and important entertainment in people's life.but i do not think the television is the cause of some breakdowns in family communication,this issue depend on the couple's relationship and they how to manage their family.it depend on how's the atmosphere of the family as well.

of course watching TV has its disadvantage. but we should control the time of watching TV. we should communicate with family members at leisure time, just not only watching TV.
