The struggle for company control at one of China's biggest electronics retailers may finally be drawing to a close.

Shareholders approved the appointment of two representatives of the imprisoned founder of the company, Huang Guangyu, to the board on Friday.

The market reacted well: Gome shares were up 8% at Friday's close, reflecting investor relief that the company may be finally able to concentrate on its business rather than the power struggle.

But it's still premature to judge whether private equity firm Bain Capital LLC, which owns around 10% of the company, can breathe easy after today's decision. There's still some unfinished business, for example outstanding management contracts between Gome and stores owned by Mr. Huang that aren't part of the listed entity.

The best outcome for Bain would be that after today, in exchange for Mr. Huang's two representatives being allowed to sit on the board, he'll also let the company chairman, Chen Xiao, whom Mr. Huang previously tried to oust, get on with his job.
