我曾向受过高等教育的英美人(非英语专业)请教one by one与one after another 的区别, 她回答不上来,感觉都差不多。而我们的考试题中,两者差别却很大。类似还有in future 与in the fufure等等。 当然这只是个例,不足以说明在实际当中所有英美人都区分不出两者差别。但此事似乎也能看出我们的教育专家对英语的研究比英国人还要精深,对连基本(英语)表达能力都没有的中国学生的要求何等之严格。连拉屎撒尿都不会表达, 研究这些东西有个屁用! |

another reason why sometimes native speakers can not answer our test questions correctly is that the english language is spoken by people from different places all over the world and there are at least two forms of english: american english and british english, which have different language habits. for example, if you say: mongolia is on the north of china, most americans will think it a strange sentence; while the english are quite used to speaking in this way. as non-native speakers, we may not have paidmuch attention to problems like this. sometimes the questions are set according to british english grammer or habits, so it's no wonder americans can not answer them correctly, and vice versa. |

也不能说是鼓吹吧,,如果只是鼓吹起来的东西怎么会生命力如此顽强呢?现在高校英语教师还在提此区别呢。 |

1. i have some american pals, all of whom say they 'd never use the term "out of question". it sounds very strange to them. 2. i cant find " out of question" in my oxford dictionary. but i still dare not conclude that no english speaking people in the world use the term"out of question" which means "beyond(without)question". |
Hornby 的牛津词典头2版里收有 beyond (beyond all, without, out of, past) question, 但此后各版删除了out of。 |
回复 9# 朱祖厚 I'm wondering whether the fact that"out of question " has been deleted indicates it is an oudated term. If so, I think it is meaningless for ordinary non-English-speaking peopleto dig grammar rules like this.we should be taught what is widely used by native English speakers of today. There is no need for us to study words or phrases which even an educated Englishman could not understand. |
谢谢分享。。。。。。。。。。 |
