Unlike China, tipping in America is very popular. And some people especially in service industry depend on tips for a living.
So some of us may have the worry if we go to America, how should we tip. Simply put, everything with people to serve you need tips. For example, taxi driver, hotel bellman (who helps you carry your baggages), room service and valet (who helps you park your cars), barber shop or salon (where people give you haircuts and facial/body massage), restaurant and so on. But you don't need to tip at a fast food restaurant or supermarket.
What about the tip rate? Well, it ranges from 15% to 20%. If you feel pretty satisfied with the service, give 20% tip of your total bill. But never, ever, forget to give a tip when you have to, you may find your service the next time you come would be terrible as a nightmare. Haha... |
