No, highway is not Chinese English.

In America, there are freeways and highways.The difference is that a freeway is stopless and the speed limit is higher than that of highways.However, a highway's speed limit is usually higher than that of city streets, but a highway has stoplights at major intersections.

The Chinese term 高速公路 in America is actually freeway.Otherwise, the speed of highway is not 高速 enough.

Highway is a commonly used word in American English.
