As it relates to the shooting, based on what we

knowtoday,thisappearstobetheactofa

mentallyderangedindividualwhoundertook

anirrationalandsenselesssetofbehaviors.

To jump from that to some sweeping judgment

or conclusion, based on those facts, would be

premature,incompleteandunfair,particularly

if you try to assign blame to any one individual

orinstitutionoroutletorthelike.Allofthat

beingsaid,wecouldallbenefitfromamore

civil and thoughtful discourse. But I don't think

basedonthefactsaswehavethemhere

todaythatthisincidentisconnectedinany

directwaytosomeinappropriatepolitical

statement,act,symbol,person,institution.It

doesn't appear to be the case.
