Does hard work truly lead to success?

However, the idea of hard work has led to just as much frustration as has the failure to reach one’s goals.

Since childhood, whatever activity we have been involved in, we have been told to do it HARD. Work hard, play hard, study hard, strive hard, practice hard.

从小时候开始，不管参加什么活动都被告知要尽力去做。努力工作，认真玩耍，努力学习，努力奋斗，认真练习。

But it is often the case that success arises organically, rather than by force.

但是成功的出现是有一定条件的，不是你想要成功就能成功的。

It comes because the circumstances are fertile for its emergence.

具备了成熟的成功条件，就成功了。

It comes when the time is right.

时间对了，就成功了。

Aiming for success directly, rarely results in success. At least not in the form it is envisioned.

想要成功的这个目标太直接，最后往往就不能获得成功。至少事情还不具备成功的条件。

Then if hard work is not the secret of success, what is?

那么如果努力不是成功的秘诀，那是什么呢?

If repetition and endless striving is not the answer, what is?

如果也不是不断地重复、无尽的努力，那是什么呢？

It may be helpful to change our perspective about success. And experience joy on the journey, rather than frustration.

也许改变我们对待成功的看法还能帮我们取得成功。感受这段旅途中的喜悦而非难过。

Forget entirely, whether you will fail or succeed. Whether you will progress or not. Whether you will “make it” or not.

不管会是成功还是失败，把这些通通都忘掉。不管你是不是有所进步，不管你是不是做到了。

Do it for the joy that you experience whilst doing it.

要为感受这其中的快乐而做事。

Do it for the pleasurable feeling of time disappearing. Do it for the feeling that comes from complete engagement. Without fear of failure or hope of reward.

为了感受这期间的快乐而做，为了获得参与感而做。不要害怕失败，也不要期盼回报。

In fact, you will within it not only a future, but also a glorious present.

事实上，这期间你不仅能憧憬未来，还能把握住美好的现在。

If you can give yourself entirely in this way to any particular endeavor .

如果在这条路上你付出了自己的努力。

Success will not be some eventual reward. It will be experienced each and every day.

成功不会只是最后的奖赏，每天你都在感受着成功。

But because it is the natural result. Success does not always yield to the strongest or the most robust. She does not necessarily give herself to the ones who call her name the loudest.

但是因为这是最自然地结果。成功不会总屈服于强势。

She is fickle and mysterious in her ways.
